One of my favorite coping skills I encourage my clients to use is the practice of gratitude. There are even academic studies that tout gratitude as bringing more satisfaction and happiness to your life. It’s quite hard to feel anxious, angry or sad when you’re acknowledging things you are grateful for, especially when you think about the little things like the sound of your pet’s paws on the floor or the smell of freshly baked cookies. As we enter the holiday season, I want to take a moment to reflect on all of the things I have to be grateful for this year. Of course, I’m grateful for all of the big things in my life: my extremely supportive family, friends and colleagues, my health, a safe place to call home, a job I care deeply about, my clients who teach me new things each time we meet. I’m grateful for each of you reading this, and those who have donated to TRN this year and all those who have volunteered their time, knowledge, and expertise. I’m especially grateful for my TRN co-founder, Zandra, who has been such a phenomenal partner as we have worked through challenges and changes. I’m grateful to be in a place where I can focus some time and energy on this important cause. “Thank you” doesn’t seem enough to express my gratitude.
I am also thrilled to announce that we will soon be accepting $500 grant applications from therapists facing a disaster or emergency. The road to reach this stage has been longer than anticipated, so we are excited to finally reach a point where we can make our mission a reality. Please help us spread the word to therapists who may qualify for assistance. The eligibility criteria can be found here on the website, and the application process will be open at the beginning of December.
Happy Holidays and Thank You for all your continued support!
