Asking for Help

Asking for help is not my strong suit. Many people in helping professions really struggle to ask for help after all, WE are the helpers. Some experience some guilt or shame around asking for help, others think it makes them look weak. But if there’s one thing I know for certain, it’s that we all need help sometimes. At Therapist Resource Network, we are answering the call for help from therapists. For therapists who have experienced a disaster (flood, tornado, fire, hurricane, etc.) or a personal emergency (accident or injury impacting work, being the victim of a crime, extended health or medical issue), we are available to provide a financial cushion to help them move through the personal struggle. We strive to work within our values of dignity, equity, and compassion to make asking for help as easy as possible.  So if you or a therapist you know might qualify for assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out for help.

Asking for help from others
Giving and receiving help is part of being human.

Something I’ve learned in this process of building a non-profit is that it’s a lot more work than I anticipated, and we can’t do it all alone. That’s where you come in. There are several ways you can help us out so we can continue the important work we are doing. The easiest way is to make sure you are signed up for our monthly newsletter. You could also share our one-pager or social media post with your network. If you have more time and energy to share, we are definitely in need of some volunteers. While we would love to find people who are able to help us with social media, grant writing, and web design and management, if none of these are your forte, we would still love to channel your strengths and find the right way for you to help TRN. We are also working towards expanding our board, so if you’re looking to commit 5-8 hours per month, we would love to see if you might be a good fit as our next board member. Finally, one of the most impactful ways you can contribute is with a donation. We can’t provide emergency financial support to therapists without your generosity. Please consider making room in your budget for a donation to TRN.

While asking for help isn’t always easy, it is part of being human. We can’t get through this world without help from others. So whether you’re in a place to ask for help from TRN or provide help to TRN, know that we are there with you.
